isn't that just normal... someone posting an ad already has something in mind they want to play, they are the ones waiting on the dropped threads

what baffles me is the players who post ads, plot enthusiastically, then end up dropping the threads that were their idea to begin with. bizarre af

the only guess i have is that your rp styles didn't match for them possibly?

just because you responded to my ad doesn't mean our styles and even personalities mesh. sometimes i sense that early and dip.

people don't owe you their time or their writing. just because you both want to write the same thing, doesn't mean that the way you write or interact fits. rp is about finding something that meshes.

agree. but it's good manners to communicate. unfort these days everyone leaves everyone else on read because we're afraid someone will bite our head off for saying no thanks or don't want to waste the time or energy on being as considerate to others as we ourselves would like. we are very likely to be inconsiderate to people we don't know, especially if we think we'll escape consequences or reputational damage doing so.

write a few stock starters for yourself and point strangers to those to pick and choose or they can wildcard you something else they want. stop wasting your free time, your energy, and your enthusiasm by flushing it down to give someone else a hit of validation.

yeah, I just wish people would say "sorry not interested". i get why they don't but it's frustrating for those of us who would go "oh ok thanks for letting me know".

I find this deeply frustrating too but I managed to solve it for myself by basically setting very hard boundaries with… myself. I will follow up on a thread with one PM after three weeks and then put it out of my mind and move on or something similar. The more you practice this kind of stuff the easier it gets.

i mean, i have no problem moving on from it? but that doesn't make it less annoying. i don't think i have to set boundaries not to have feelings? it's not like i do anything about those feelings beyond blacklist the flakes.

no one is saying you can't feel your feelings OR that it isn't annoying. some people just would like to not feel annoyed or upset about that kind of thing and practice helps. you aren't obligated to take ayrt's advice, they were just saying what works for them.

right but they're the one who keeps commenting that people SHOULDN'T have those feelings and should do x. when people aren't even saying they're doing anything other than feeling mildly annoyed.

like why do they have such an issue with people being mildly annoyed about this? have they flaked on a thousand psls or something?
