Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not post personal information. This includes but is not limited to full names, addresses, phone numbers and so on.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.
Do not solicit money, Dreamwidth points, or other currency unless you are offering a good or service in return.

i'm so tired of 'this food/drink/flower/bracelet/whatever makes your character feel only sadness/anger/horniness/desperation/whatever' events. it always feels insubstantial and ooc. please make events that make my characters feel things organically instead of just throwing a status effect on them

no. make your own character feel things organically. this is how you get characters that can't/have issues reaching those feelings be able to play along with everyone else.

those kinds of status effects are perfect ways to get characters who wouldn't otherwise show or say those things to do so.

nothing stopping op from having their character feel things organically, with or without events. why does someone need an event to have ic feelings, anyway?

the problem isn't "my character doesnt feel anything outside of events" so much as its "this event has nothing in it but making my character act weird and i wish we had more to do than that".

they do feel things organically outside of the event, its the event itself that doesn't inspire any organic feelings, because the whole point of the event is artificial feelings. or i guess it inspires frustration, but after a few times that gets old.

not sure why you need an event for that ngl? just make prompts that work for you if you don't like the event stuff, since most events let you opt out of them anyway.

the problem isn't "i cant get my character to feel things", it's "i wish there was more to react to than magical emotion-changing items". so maybe a better way to say it is "please make events that have things to do in them besides making my character seem awkward and ooc".

this is the exact reason why i dropped from duplicity. i don't know if that's the game you're in op but if it is you're not alone in being frustrated by it. there's only so many times you can get excited about your character accidentally becoming horny due to [magical effect item of the month]

as someone currently in dup, it definitely is frustrating and annoying, and there's also a disconnect between people who seem to expect magical horny status effect overrides established cr completely, and people who play with it within the bounds of how their character feels about another character currently and/or are happy to play with the fallout of that.
