lots of people are acting like its a low yield pain in the ass that isnt worth the effort. and you and yours have done fuck all to demonstrate that there is value in it.

its not about the mythic laziness of those bad old dumb rpers, its how the entire rest of the internet already works. theres no serious twitter competitor even though twitter is shitmarching itself into a shithole. either your tiktok gets 1m+ views or nobody has ever heard of you.

it would take real work to get a new meme comm actually off the ground, and whos going to do that work--meme posters? the guys who dont have the time and commitment for games? lets even say there was a truly committed person or persons who did have the time and energy: it would take a lot of amount of marketing to penetrate the awareness of local community like bs. its real tough to beat whats already in peoples bookmarks or followed on their journals, it would take a lot of patient and frequent advertising here and on plurk and other places. initial growth would be slow for a good while, and during that, these new guys are going to start getting complaints about how theyre spamming ads everywhere.

nothing about this is unique to dwrp. these are dominance and network effects very normal all over the internet, from car fan forums to facebook. companies pay big big money to solve problems like these because they are real and they are challenging. and we are asking for some volunteers to do it for free, and blaming them for doing it wrong when they fail.

the cheapest, simplest answer under the current set of constraints is for bs mods to add a bunch more mods or hand over control of the community, and for the spam memes to get deleted until theres no more than 5 new memes posted a day.

and hey, great news! that would also make it more likely that people would find it worth the effort to scroll back and post in old memes.
