i do not think someone is "flaking" on me if they dont reply to a random response to a two week old top level. i think its entirely possible and valid that their interest has moved on, because these are

MEMES

and not games. games are where people commit to playing a character in a particular scenario until they drop out of the game. you see the difference?

do you take expired coupons to the store? do you act like the manager is playing the victim when she asks you to leave after you throw a huge tantrum about how any really motivated cashier who WANTED to make sales would accept your coupons?

also a meme poster and dear god, man, why wouldn't you hit the don't email option when posting? your inbox must be a nightmare. that said, i think it depends on the memes you post, tbh. i have a handful of memes i repost. a couple of them are swing and misses. sometimes they're super active. sometimes they're ghost towns. a couple other memes are usually more active. they always get play.

that said, the whole 'longevity of a meme thread' thing is really dependent on the players. i will always tag back in an ongoing thread, no matter how long it gets. i have threads from memes i'm playing in that started in april. but i'm also more careful with how many threads i have at any one time. i'm too old to play the 'tag all the threads, burn out, drop all the threads, feel sad, tag all the threads again' cycle. go look at half the texting memes (tfln not included) and see some of the ones a month or two back and see if anyone isn't still playing in them. and tbh, one or two threads still ongoing is okay. a lot of people lately have been asking me to move threads from bakerstreet to psl boxes. too many of them don't feel comfortable playing certain things in public. so i don't look at bs as 'my main place to play' as much as it is 'the bar i go to to have a few drinks and see if there's someone i can take back to my/their place'.

no, they don't. if you put 'do not email' as the option for comments on a memeposting account, you don't get them in your inbox. i'm looking at my meme posting account right now and it's empty and i recently posted a meme that is currently being played in.

ah. i think i figured it out. i also have 'Someone replies to my entry in a community' unticked entirely in my account settings. between the two of them, i haven't had a comment in my dw inbox that hasn't been a pm/reply to a logged in comment since i made this account.

this anon is correct. however, in case anyone's interested, there is indeed a way to stop inbox notifs from the memes you post as well.

if memory serves, it's like this:
go to account settings > notifications tab > uncheck "Someone replies to my entry in a community" > freedom

it'll disable notifs from every post you've made in any community ever but since it's presumably a sock account for meme posting only that shouldn't be an issue.
