rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not post personal information. This includes but is not limited to full names, addresses, phone numbers and so on.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.

when my jp guy refers to his american homie cr he just uses last name with no honorific, or he'll switch to first if they've become very close. if he's talking to his american mentor cr he uses "mx lastname". you can convey the feeling of an honorific and the politeness of the culture without writing shit like "Robinson-San"

it's actually quite common for japanese people to still use honorifics when speaking english with non-japanese people (source: i lived in japan for a while and then came back to the us and worked for a japanese company here and was constantly called "[name]"-san in both places despite being non-japanese).

i'm not japanese. i have a lot of japanese coworkers. some will use -san in their emails to me or to any other non-jp counterpart. if you live or work in multicutural areas, you will hear people use other honorifics or titles in different languages even when speaking english.

it's so common for me i'm more surprised that people keep making it seem like using honorifics in different languages is just a weeb thing when it's my daily experience.

this person doesn't need to be prepared to work with jp coworkers, this person needs to be prepared for threading with a tony stark player who drops the thread as soon as they read "stark-san" and think op is a cringy weeb. it's about being accurate, until it's not.

you can also convey the same "distance" hierarchy other anons are talking about. using Mr. Stark vs Anthony vs Tony vs Iron Man all have different implications of closeness.
