Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not post personal information. This includes but is not limited to full names, addresses, phone numbers and so on.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.

(Anonymous) 2024-02-10 04:49 am (UTC)(link)seriously: there's no "wrong" way to play this game, whether its the first time or fourteenth. they put the origins in there for a reason, right? i know they recommend not starting with durge and i can definitely understand why, even as someone who did (and then replayed durge before playing a regular tav) but it's not Incorrect because of that.
if you're having trouble connecting to your tav, you can always retool around with background, race, and/or class - each one gets unique options in dialogue here and there which does help fill things in! it could just be the race or background you've got now don't vibe with you.
i WOULD recommend against playing one of the companion origins for your first go though, just because you lose all of the acting and 'organic' nuances/growth of the characters.
otherwise, the origin vs tav doesn't matter too much for the general feel of the game, honestly. it could just be the order/way you're going through things, or other various gameplay things. please, please, please long rest, and long rest often. you will not get timed out of quests unless it is made ABUNDANTLY clear that it's "you have until tomorrow" or something. the only thing not long resting does is make the game harder and makes you miss out on story content!! i made the mistake of going "no time is clearly pressing and long rests are a sparse resource" my first time and missed so much. second play through i would legit have times where i was like "huh, wonder if there's any more story beats" and rest 2-3 times back to back.
the game feels REALLY empty narratively if you don't long rest, because much of the interparty plot progresses with long rests. please long rest. please long rest.
